Barcelona know they have to sell players in the upcoming transfer window and Arthur Melo was seen as one of the more valuable players they could dispense with, yet the former Gremio star is refusing to leave the Camp Nou.

Juventus were the team closest linked with a move for the Brazilian international, yet Arthur has been fairly clear in his public response to such rumours as he simply isn't interested in leaving.

Despite these assertions on the player's part, Juventus continued to insist on bringing him to Turin in a deal that could have taken both Miralem Pjanic and Mattia de Sciglio to Barcelona.

In the hope of persuading the player to agree to such a deal, Eric Abidal and Ramon Planes met with Arthur on Monday.

It was in this meeting where the midfielder told them officially that he wanted to stay at Barcelona, mainly because he feels it is the best club to continue his development.

At that time neither Abidal nor Planes put any pressure on him to leave the Catalan club, as he isn't a problem for them.

Arthur adapts perfectly to the demands of coach Quique Setien and he is also young and has the potential to improve further.

His salary isn't overly excessive, either.

After the conclusion of Monday's meeting, Juventus' own sporting director, Fabio Paratici, contacted the Brazilian's representatives to try to find out whether a deal could still be possible, but the answer remained the same - it was a resounding 'no'.

Juventus took the message and immediately took Arthur out of their minds, meaning there will now be a further discussion with Barcelona on how best to complete a deal involving Pjanic and De Sciglio.
