There is no clause for Barcelona to sign Emerson before June of 2021
Emerson has been one of the good news stories for Real Betis this season, as the right-back is impressing with his performances, and he'll be staying at the Andalusian club until June 30, 2021.
That's the view of Real Betis sporting coordinator Alexis Trujillo, who has looked to clarify the situation of the player whose rights are split between Barcelona and Real Betis.
According to Trujillo, there is no clause for Barcelona to be able to sign him this year.
"We're really happy with Emerson's adaptation to the team's play and with what he is offering," the director said on the club's radio station.
"We think he is a player who is getting better and we don't know where his limit is.
"But what is true is that Emerson will be with us until June 30, 2021.
"There is no possibility for Barcelona to sign him before then.
"There is no clause that says that."
Trujillo went on to explain that the situation will be evaluated next summer.
"When that date arrives, we'll see what the player's situation is," he said.
"Until then, he'll be playing for us.
"He is a player who we invested in together and we'll see from there by evaluating the situation between the two clubs."
Barcelona own 50 percent of his rights and their scouts have been constantly attending his matches to evaluate his progress.
