Neymar's father: My son didn't disrespect PSG
Neymar's father and agent has insisted that reports about his son's best footballing memory being Barcelona's win over Paris Saint-Germain were taken out of context.
Neymar Junior had told Oh My Goal that his two best memories in football were winning the Olympics with Brazil in 2016 and beating PSG in that crazy Champions League tie of 2017.
However, Neymar Santos has taken to Instagram to claim that these quotes have been taken out of context.
"At no point did my son disrespect PSG or the players that played in that match in 2017," he wrote on Instagram.
"From the end of that game today, he always remembers this match as one of the most important of his career.
"Last Saturday, in an interview held during the Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five [tournament], he was asked; "What's the best memory you have of a dressing room?"
"The player quoted two moments; the dressing room of the 2016 Olympic title and from the comeback [against PSG] in 2017 - iconic moments of his career."
Neymar Jr has become under increased scrutiny in recent months after being accused of rape by a Brazilian model, being ordered to pay unpaid taxes in Spain and not turning up for the start of pre-season with PSG.
The forward has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona this summer.
