Barcelona in no rush to enter into the summer transfer window

As one of the summer's longest transfer sagas continues, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu continues to deny that the club are making a manouevre for Antoine Griezmann.

The club's top figure has long denied the rumours and has now actively contradicted claims from Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin, who claimed that the deal for Griezmann to join Barcelona was done in March.

It's true that Bartomeu has no choice but to maintain this claim, given that they could encounter legal problems if it was to be proven that the Catalan club had negotiated with a player under contract without his club's permission.

"We have always said it, we haven't spoken to him [Griezmann], there's nothing there," Bartomeu told RAC1.

"We will see how the market evolves in the coming days and weeks, we're focusing on slow but safe management."

However, everything points towards the fact that the deal for the Frenchman will be done in a matter of time, with his release clause dropping to 120 million euros from July 1.

Until then, prudence and patience will be key for Barcelona, particularly in their public statements.

Neymar ruled out

Another operation which has been categorically ruled out is a return for Neymar, despite quotes from Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifiseemingly opening the door for the Brazilian to leave.

The club insist that they would not look to bring the forward back to Camp Nou, who they have still not forgiven for how he left the club under the same management.

There is also an economic factor given that PSG would not allow him to leave for the 222 million euros they paid to sign him and that would not fit with Barcelona's plans.

Semedo going nowhere

Barcelona have also clearly defined their stance on Nelson Semedo's future after the Portugal international was linked with Atletico Madrid who were reported to be considering a significant offer.

Los Colchoneros would look to bargain with the controversy of the deal for Griezmann in order to seal a deal, not pushing on claims that the deal was done in March illegally.

In the Camp Nou offices, Semedo is considered a key member of the team and will not be sold and will instead be given a more prominent role next season.
