Vives: We are not concerned that Spain have fewer Barcelona players now
Barcelona's influence in the Spain team has dwindled to the extent that only Sergio Busquets started the match against Croatia but spokesman Josep Vives denied this was a concern for them
The Catalan club was a strong source of players during a golden period in Spain's history when they won to European Championships and a World Cup.
"We are concerned about Barcelona, that fans and members are happy with the team, with the trophies and that we are playing well," he said.
"We are aiming that players from La Masia make it to the first team."
Vives confirmed that Barcelona wanted to play the LaLiga Santander match against Girona in Miami.
"The Barcelona president, Bartomeu and the Girona president Delfi Geli signed a letter asking for the federation to permit the match in the United States," he continued.
"We will see how Rubiales responds, we believe that everyone comes out better from this but we want a consensus.
"The players understand the situation. When we get together and talk, normally they understand. We know what is our role, and we believe that the discussion with this new market, the American, is positive."
He admitted that the Champions League is now a big target for the club, especially after last year's disappointment.
"It will not be a case of success or failure if we don't win the Champions League," he stated.
"We are not planning to lose, our efforts are not focused on that and that is nothing to do with what Leo Messi said. The Champions League is a big target, we are really motivated but it is not an obsession."
